The UBC Thunderbirds men's golf team will have a new face on next year's squad. Abbotsford, BC native Kyle Dodman has committed to join the NAIA-based UBC Thunderbirds men's golf team next season.

In 2006, Kyle was named the Maple Leaf Junior Tour Player-of-the-Year after he posted the lowest scoring average for 16 year-olds across the nation. He has picked up numerous victories on the MLJ tour, including an impressive showing at the Cattermole Timber Classic in Chilliwack when he posted rounds of 73-70.

His success on the MLJ tour earned him a spot on on Team Canada at a tournament in Arizona that brought together some of the best junior golfers from the region.

UBC head coach Chris MacDonald sees a bright future for his latest signing.

"We are excited to have Kyle joining the program next year, he is aware it will be a step for him to move into University golf but he has the ability, in short time, to be a solid contributing player for the T-Birds," said MacDonald. "I am excited to see his improvements at the BC Junior and BC Amateur this year which is his focus this summer and ecstatic about his enthusiasm for the game and his desire to play for the Thunderbirds."
