Junior Development Program

Selected invited juniors will be training with PGA of BC Professionals Brady Stead and Luke McKenzie on Thursday evenings at the Ledgeview Golf Club from May to September. We practice and train together in a similar setting to college golf programs. This invitation is not for all juniors; it is only offered to those who have already developed into skilled junior golfers, are coachable, display maturity, and want to learn how to compete at a high level. Invitation into the program is at the sole discretion of our Professional staff.

The program is broken down into three age categories:

Linksters - ages 6-10

Bantams - ages 10-14

Seniors - ages 14-17

Depending on the age category, we will alter our coaching strategies. However, below are some of the topics that will be covered:

• Technical golf skills - making good contact, hitting the golf ball square with the club face, interacting with the ground correctly during short game shots, adapting to different lies, hitting draws vs fades, etc.
• Mental toughness - learning how to battle through adversity, emotional control, implementing skills that increase focus, building confidence, etc.
• Course management - learning how to “score”, when to play aggressively and when to play conservatively, learning how to finish with the lowest score possible
• Tournament preparation - learning how to “peak” performance for big events, learning when to use block practice vs. variable practice, course mapping for future tournaments, etc.
• Nutrition and mobility - learning how our body reacts to different foods, the necessary movements in the golf swing, and getting our bodies ready for peak performance

• 4 hours of group instruction and scheduled competitive days per month. Juniors are encouraged to practice and play together following all team sessions and anytime throughout the week.
• Guest speakers throughout the season from tour winners, sport psychologists and physiotherapists
• Ability to train with launch monitor data
• $125 to be used for tournament entry fees throughout the season
• Team uniform
• Advice on recommended junior tournaments to compete in
• Discounted rate for individual private lessons

• Cost for the program is $599 + GST for the season
• Junior must be between the ages of 6 and 17
