Obstructions: Anything artificial, cart paths, drain covers, irrigation heads, and protective
fences. Free relief from stance and swing. 1 club length. Nearest point of full relief not
closer to the hole. This includes the railway ties in bunkers on hole #2 and #8.
Wood chips and mulch: Wood chips and mulch used around the course are considered
loose impediments. Without penalty a player may remove a loose impediment.
Out of bounds: out of bounds is defined by white stakes, lines, or boundary fencing. A
ball at rest is out of bounds only when ALL of it is outside the boundary edge
Animal Hoof Damage: Damage (not on the green) that is clearly identifiable as having
been caused by animal hoofs is deemed Ground Under Repair (G.U.R). Free relief. 1
club length. Nearest point of full relief not closer to the hole. Such damage on any green
may be repaired.
No Play Zones: No play zones are marked with red stakes and green tip. Relief MUST be taken from no play zones under regular penalty area guidelines 17.1 (d).
Penalty Areas: A PA is an area from which if the player’s ball comes to rest there, relief with a one-stroke penalty is allowed. A PA may or may not contain water. Red Penalty Areas are defined by red stakes/ paint. The transition from Penalty Area to No Play Zones is signalled with 2 stakes side by side.
